I have always contemplated the real differences between Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and kodokan Judo. We know they are very similar yet so different just like many things are. I had never been able answer this question until one of the best seminars I ever attended with Master Sylvio Behring and Grand master Alvaro Barreto. Master Sylvio answered my question by saying ” There are 3 things that make Jiu-Jitsu different from Judo”
1. Rules of the sports.
2. Use of the guard.
3. Grand Master Helio Gracie.
I am grateful for the wisdom and linage I follow through my Masters Alvaro Barreto, Joao Barreto and Sylvio Behring.
